Chad Grob is an artist and craftsman working in hardwoods. Design invention is fitted to the figure of the grain. The warm hues are paired or mixed. Burls and blemishes are opportunities. Despite years of exposure to weather and demise, the tree’s character survives in another form.
His pieces usually function. Ash & paduck, a complimentary contrast. Rich walnut showcases wild hickory. Striking burnished cherry on its own or with maple. Birdseye maple’s twinkle. German beech on butternut. Aspen, oaks, birch. Sycamore accented with purpleheart or inlaid with turquoise or copper. Hackberry waves. Mahogany’s majesty.
